Travelling the Gibb River Road in the Kimberley is one of life's outback joys - if you don't mind being jogged around on serious corrugations, and enduring punctures and the other interesting events along the way. The road is rich with marvellous camping spots and swimmable pools, rivers, hot springs - you name it.
This painting is of a pretty 'ordinary' track from the Gibb to Manning Falls. It's a few kilometers each way in often very hot conditions. I imagine the track may have been upgraded slightly since we were there, but this is what we experienced. A fabulous adventure, with deep pools, a waterfall, cliffs, and a glorious vista all around. Even the rough track was memorable.
