This is a Fine Art Reproduction of my painting "Purnululu" - the Aboriginal name for the Bungle Bungles - named of course by a whitefeller! In this case, both names have some charm, but the Aboriginal one should prevail as part of our aim to become a more inclusive country.
This is a marvellous place in the Kimberley area, Northern Western Australia. It is a visual treat. Fly over the mass of beehive formations by helicopter, and then explore the many tracks leading into Gorges and the grand Cathedral Gorge. It is very inspiring!
I admit I went a bit overboard with colour on this artwork! I've used an array of mostly transparent colours overlaying each other to create a cacophony of colour. Although the Bungle Bungles are very colourful, the colours in the painting are exaggerated to give an extra vibrant effect. It is a happy painting. I was happy painting it!
