This big and highly textured painting, although abstracted, will be familiar to most people who have walked the canyon rim at Watarrku (aka Kings Canyon). There is a surprising, deep, even secret looking waterhole that is well below the level of the walk. The waterhole is characterised by many ancient cycads, which have flourished here due to the protection of the surrounding cliffs. It’s a great spot. You can walk down there, swim, and enjoy what is one of the very special places in this arid landscape, which is otherwise almost devoid of water.
This painting does not require an additional frame - stretching is sufficient.
