This rich and vibrantly coloured semi-abstract painting is of the remote Palm Valley sweltering in the afternoon sun. This artwork has a bold simple banded structure when viewed from a distance but the layered detail of the valley walls, river bed, rough terrain, watercourses, ancient palms and fossils together with intensely vibrant colour patterns pull in the eye and provide a mass of small detail. There is always water here but in this painting the harsh sun hides the almost dried out and stagnant pools.
