Product Details

Due to its very strong texture, I'm only making this print available on paper - paper shows every detail of the texture, and texture is what this artwork is all about!

Your museum quality Giclee print will be rolled and shipped in a Mailing Tube free of charge in Australia and overseas.

Mailing tube shipping is by far the safest, most efficient and economical way to ship artwork - then when you receive it you can get a local framer to frame it exactly how you choose.

Note: we do not frame paper prints either here or overseas due to the fragility of the glass in the frames. It's much safer for you to get it done locally.

About this artwork:

This is one of a series of artworks about “Looking Down”. It was inspired by the aggregate patterns on the concrete or asphalt footpaths of Sydney (of all things)! I have so many photographs of these pavements - many of which have inspired paintings. I’m not done with his subject yet either, but this is the only print I have available at the moment.

It’s from a mixed media painting where some of the pieces of 'aggregate' are actually pieces of patterned wax (encaustic) which I prepared separately and then embedded into the very highly textured background. You can see that the waxy appearance of the encaustic pieces is quite different from the other elements of the painting....

Of all my prints, this is 'hands down' the most unbelievable because the texture is soooo real! Everyone wants to touch the print right away. EVERYONE - because they just will not accept that the texture is an illusion - that it has no texture at all and is printed on super smooth paper….

Don't let them touch it though! You don't want grubby marks on the print (did you know that the natural oils on a person's skin, however clean the person is, are highly damaging to artworks? That's why high end gallery staff wear white gloves to handle artworks.)

Anyway, it's always best to get paper prints framed before visitors are allowed. Even YOU should not touch them dear owner :)

This Limited Edition (50) is a GICLEE PRINT of a highly textured MIXED MEDIA painting. You will never believe this print is on smooth, flat paper! You just won’t!
