YOU AND ME AND THE NOBBLY TREE

This original painting is a precious memory of mine. My childhood was spent on Kangaroo Island in South Australia and this is a semi-abstract picture of where we lived. At that time, there were very few houses and we had the beach, sea, rocks and cliffs, and bushland all around us. The blue right hand side is the lower part of our favourite tree which had high and full branches - we loved it and called it The Nobbly Tree. My sister and I would climb high into its branches wearing black balaclavas (inspired by stories like the Famous Five and Secret Seven - probably long forgotten now) and we'd play all sorts of of games, usually with other local children who we would call to join us with a series of Indian ululations. Yes it probably sounds very dull to a reader, but childhood memories like this stay with us forever. So You and Me are my dear sister Phyll and I, and it's a nod to all the fun we had playing high in the tree.

This artwork is presently only in Original form although it is possible I may make a print later if it is requested. It has very nice texture (especially the tree). I have offered it purchased rolled up but it is light and a difficult work to stretch due to the side border forming part of the front of the work (it looks like a frame) so no framing is necessary or offered as it would spoil this unusual work.
