The texture, colours and quirky mark making in this artwork are the hallmark of Kate Owen's very original Australian desert landscapes. This limited edition print is extraordinary and FUN!
Kate says: "These are my beloved Mundy Mundy Hills, just beyond the tiny township of Silverton which is beyond Broken Hill in barren desert country New South Wales. I have painted these hills and the plains on the other side of them many times. See also "Mirage on Mundi Mundi" also now available in print form. You may have noticed I've spelt Mundy Mundy two different ways. I've seen it written both ways but I like the 'y'. By the way, like other Aboriginal names, the word being repeated means more than one - or at least plural. If there are many more than one, it might be called 'big mob mundy' but please google it to be sure. I'm no expert on this.
In this particular painting though, the shape of the hills after I had painted them, reminded me of a woman with a flat bottom, lying across the edge of a bed. Yeah - not a very romantic name for a painting?
Aside from that, I always like the shapes of rocks, dried earth, spinifex and dead plant life, in this area and I like to represent them with these marks. To me, they actually do depict the character of the land quite accurately!"
Your museum quality Giclee print will be rolled and shipped in a Mailing Tube free of charge in Australia and overseas - see more information in my FAQs.
Mailing tube shipping is by far the safest, most efficient and economical way to ship artwork - then when you receive it you can get a local framer to frame it exactly how you choose.
If you prefer to receive your artwork ready to hang on the wall, simply have the work STRETCHED - (the sides will be coloured or mirrored to match the print), and it looks very contemporary (this is my preferred way to hang artwork). Or if you prefer, you can add a FRAME in black, white or natural timber. Prices will adjust as you explore each option in the purchase section of this page.
The resulting price is then all you then have to pay as shipping within all but the most remote areas of Australia is included in the price.
If you would like it shipped overseas, or to a very remote area in Australia, please contact me directly at kate@kateowenart.com. Depending on the location, it may cost a little extra if the print is stretched or framed - but I try to keep all prices as low as possible.
Note: we do not frame paper prints either here or overseas due to the fragility of the glass in the frames. It's much safer for you to get it done locally.
Paper: Canson 310gsm Photo Rag with 12 Colour Pigment Ink.

The original artwork was first scanned in high detail on a flatbed scanner. Each print is individually numbered and either signed, embossed with the authorised Kate Owen signature, or accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity - the scanned file will be destroyed when the limited edition of 50 copies World Wide is sold so that no further prints can be made.
